What is beryl

When it comes to beryl, everyone's first reaction is probably: emerald. However, beryl is a very large family, in addition to emerald, which is one of the world's top five gemstones, there are also popular colored gemstones such as aquamarine and popular morganite among girls.

Introduction to the beryl family:

Beryl, also known as beryl in English, belongs to the beryl family in mineralogy. Beryllium is a beryllium aluminum silicate mineral with the basic chemical formula Be3Al2 (Si2O6) 3, where Be and Al can be replaced by different elements.


Common colors include colorless, green, yellow, light orange, pink, red, blue, brown, and black. It has a glassy luster, mostly transparent, and a small amount can be semi transparent to opaque.


Its main production areas are located in Brazil in South America, Austria, Germany, and Ireland in Europe, Madagascar in Africa, the Ural Mountains in Asia, and northwest China.

Emerald

Emerald is the king of emeralds and one of the ancient gemstone varieties, which has been used as jewelry since ancient Egypt. The production of emerald in the world is extremely rare. It has been estimated that only one out of every one million beryl minerals is emerald, which is a miracle of one millionth of green gemstones. The main producing areas of emerald include Colombia, Russia, Brazil, India, South Africa, Zimbabwe, China, etc. Nowadays, emerald still sits at the top of the jewelry chain and is a timeless classic on the jewelry stage.

Aquamarine gemstone

Aquamarine is an elegant sky blue variety in the beryl family, with the Latin word "Aqua" meaning water and "Mare" meaning sea. Morgan Stone

It was first discovered on the island of Madagascar in 1911, and the discoverer George Friedrich named it "Morgan Stone" in tribute to the New York banker and his patron John Morgan. Morgan stone produces pink, rose red, and peach red colors due to the presence of manganese impurities.

Morganite is mainly available in light pink, pink orange red, pink purple red and other colors, each with its own characteristics, which can touch the heartstrings of women. Golden beryl

It is a transparent crystal of beryl, which appears yellow green, golden yellow, orange, brown, yellow brown, light lemon yellow, and so on due to its chemical composition containing iron. Green beryl cannot be called emerald due to the absence of chromium absorption lines in the visible light absorption spectrum, as well as its light color, low saturation, or yellowish hue.
